In Gram-Grams garden

General Waste is a book about the simple things in life, and about looking after your possessions and the world around you. Rather than dealing with modern environmental themes, this book concentrates on old-fashioned values – not wasting food, making repairs, re-using things, buying sensible and useful items for yourself…

The character of Gram-Gram is based on someone I knew – an old lady who had lived through the Great Depression. I think inside me simultaneously lives the wasteful little general and the thrifty grandma!
